Patricia Johansen is a Calgary born artist with over 30 years experience studying and painting in both oil and water color. She has travelled extensively with her family, living abroad and using these periods to study, paint and teach. In each location her passion for the local landscape has been her inspiration, capturing the beautiful yet diverse scenery of these fascinating places. While living in the Congo, she was able to work with local students sharing her knowledge and passion for painting. She lived in Dubai for seven years where she worked primarily in oil and explored portrait techniques. Another stop was Tbilisi Georgia (former Soviet Union) where she worked for 3 years with local artists and beginning her journey in water color and focused primarily on local Georgian landscapes and historic Georgian architecture. She has successfully sold her work in local markets and arts shows where she has lived.
In 2010, Pat moved with her husband to Abu Dhabi where she deepened her focus on water color and exclusively painted local Arab scenes and landscapes. She exhibited her work in Abu Dhabi and successfully sold originals, prints and cards. She developed a successful relationship with the Qasr Al Sarab resort where her work was displayed and sold very well.
In 2013, Pat’s husband retired and they returned home to be closer to their grandchildren and to complete construction of their family home on an acreage just south of Bragg Creek. Pat is currently working on a new portfolio exploring the Rocky mountains and local fauna. She has recently completed works on Elbow Falls, Kananaskis-Interlakes, Lake Moraine, Lake Louise area and other mountain settings. Her inspiration now comes from her passion for summer and winter hiking and she enjoys painting the wonderful local flowers of the Bragg Creek area.
