Tilman Sandvoss is an accomplished violist. He studies viola with his father Christopher Sandvoss. He has had the privilege of playing for many world renowned musicians including Robertos Diaz, Gerald Stanick, Rivka Golani, Barry Shiffman and Scott St. John.
Sandvoss was a member of several Mount Royal Conservatory Academy ensembles and Orchestras where he was the principle violist of the Conservatory Sinfonia for 3 years. Sandvoss has won numerous awards in provincial festivals and most recently was the winner of the Calgary Pro Musica Society Dick Matthews YADP Scholarship. He has appeared as a soloist with the Kensington Sinfonia and Bishop Carroll’s Virtuosi Strings.
Sandvoss’s viola playing has taken him across Western Canada, and most recently to Chicago. Sandvoss’s string quartet (The Brocke String Quartet) has performed Dvorak’s American Quartet live on Alberta’s classical music radio station (CKUA Radio). Sandvoss plays on a viola made by internationally acclaimed award winning Canadian luthier, Christopher Sandvoss.
